The antifouling of non-woven fabrics is considered from the following two aspects:
(1) Oil repellent finishing
(2) Easy decontamination finishing
The main purpose of easy decontamination finishing is to make the oily liquid dirt on the hydrophobic fiber easy to be removed, and because the liquid dirt is often used as the carrier and cementing agent of particles, if the liquid dirt is easy to wash away, the particles will also be easy to remove. In addition to the washing conditions, the fouling separation from the surface of nonwovens mainly depends on the critical surface tension of the fiber surface, that is, the surface energy of nonwovens. The fabric should be easy to be decontaminated and resistant to moisture. It has high wettability in liquid medium and low interfacial energy for common oily contaminants in air medium, Only in this way can it have good antifouling effect.
The liquid dirt is mainly contaminated on the fiber surface by wetting, and then to the fabric interior, between fibers and between yarns by capillary action. Its principle is similar to the wetting and penetration of water on the fiber surface, except that the surface tension of oily liquid dirt is usually smaller than that of water, so the wetting ability of liquid dirt on nonwovens is strong.
